This site was first created by Kevin van Velthoven and started as a third year project for his Bachelor of Information Technology degree at Otago Polytechnic in 1997. The original site Visit-Dunedin was launched on the 3 November 1997 with the Otago-Peninsula site being launched on the 1st of July 1998. Together with the Visit New Zealand websites, they are now under the direction of Herman van Velthoven since 1999.
