Joint Venture Project

WATERFRONT PROJECT UPDATE

Separate annual meetings of the two parents organisations late last year (BB Community Centre and BB Boating Club) directed Broad Bay Waterfront Inc to go to the next stage – a developed concept design and working drawings for a combined hall and boat club on the site of the existing boating club.

The next stage involves obtaining quotes from selected design firms for a developed concept plan. Working drawings would come out of this process. Three quotes have been sought. Fundraising for this will be required.

The joint-venture group is keen to increase feedback to the community on progress with the project and has arranged for updates to be posted on the Broad Bay website (www.broadbay.co.nz), on the community noticeboard in Clearwater Street and at the Boating Club. Updates will also be produced for this community newsletter.

BB Waterfront Inc was set up in 2008 to investigate the proposal under a memorandum of understanding. To date the group, comprising four representatives from each organisation and an independent chairperson (Richard Good), have looked into engineering requirements, construction materials, indicative quotes for construction, fundraising and resource consent matters.
