Chy-an-Dowr, a character Boutique Bed & Breakfast,
offering quality accommodation, located on the scenic Otago Peninsula
halfway between  Dunedin and the Royal Albatross and
Yellow-eyed and little Blue Penguin Colonies.

"Chy~an~Dowr" is situated in Broad Bay,
directly across the road from a small beach and picnic area.

Originally built as a general store in 1905 and rebuilt in 1925 to the  existing house,
it remained a general store until the 1970's. In 1993 "Chy~an~Dowr"  opened up as a Boutique Accommodation and  since then we have welcomed many guests.

 Stay a while and enjoy either:

• The Canterbury suite, a luxury guest room upstairs at the front of our house with panoramic harbour views or
• Rosemary Retreat our private self contained apartment located in a garden setting on the side of our house.
   

Canterbury Suite
Our Canterbury suite is a luxury guest suite at the front of the house with
harbour views and consists of a bedroom with a Queen-size bed,
through an archway a second small room with fridge, microwave and
tea/coffee making facilities and an ensuite bathroom.
The bathroom is accessible from within the bedroom and has a shower,
washbasin and toilet. Bathrobes, toiletries and a hairdryer are provided.

The Canterbury suite has a TV, DVD and electric heaters.
The bed has an electric blanket, wool underlay, cotton sheets, 
a cotton and/or a feather duvet and a wool blanket is available.
Chocolates, fresh fruit, tea/coffee making facilities.

Our Canterbury suite is available either with a full served cooked breakfast or
continental breakfast supplies in your room to be enjoyed at your convenience.
There is also a Sunroom upstairs at the front of the house with panoramic views
across the harbour to the hills on the other side.
Wireless internet is available throughout the house or on our guest computer.

Rosemary Retreat
Rosemary Retreat is our self contained apartment
on the garden side of our house.
A secluded retreat for peace and privacy with your own garden patio.
You have off street parking in the garden and private access
through the garden to  Rosemary Retreat.
Rosemary Retreat has a lounge, bedroom, bathroom and kitchenette,
available with or without full breakfast supplies.
Rosemary Retreat has a king-size bed in a separate bedroom and a bedsettee
 in the lounge and can sleep up to four guests.

The  Otago Peninsula, well known for its Royal Albatross Colony,  Yellow-eyed Penguins and seals,
has many walkways, secluded  beaches and wonderful views.
Larnach  Castle, the Marine Studies Aquarium and Glenfalloch Gardens  are nearby, as are the many local arts and crafts studios.
There  are several local cafes and restaurants on the Otago Peninsula.
Evening dining is available at Portobello a five minute drive from our house.

Follow signs Peninsula. We are a 20 minute drive along the harbourside road  from Dunedin.
We are on the corner of Portobello Road and Clearwater Street in Broad  Bay.
