BROAD BAY COMMUNITY CENTRE HISTORIC EXHIBITION
LABOUR WEEKEND, OPENING FRIDAY 23 OCTOBER 7.30PM
AND CONTINUING ALL WEEKEND, 11AM-6PM
See the photographic display of Broad Bay houses, churches, schools and other items of interest from early days of settlement until the present.
A specially prepared booklet with selected photos and history includes a map you can follow in a self-guided tour of the Bay. This will be a street-view only, to compare how places look today with how they were in the photos, and can be undertaken at your leisure.
Also showing over the weekend will be a video of vintage postcards, and a film of one of our long-time residents talking about people and places of interest in earlier days.
Opening Night will have Sean Brosnahan (Otago Settlers Museum) speaking about early history and settlement. Neville Peat (well-known author and Bay resident) will talk about Holidaying at Broad Bay, and Paul Klemick (a member of the Polish Heritage Society) will relate the story of the Polish Church in Broad Bay.
Entry will be $10 per adult (including the booklet) and refreshments will be available. Do come – you will not be disappointed!
