Our house used to be the village baker’s home
in the early part of the 20th century.
It is a three bedroom villa with one family bathroom.
Parking is available on- or off street.
|
|
|
|
 
Guest rooms are heated with
electric convection heaters
and equipped with kingsize beds,
TV, and closets.
Livingroom use includes open fireplace, broadband internet, stereo
and seating for up to 10.
|
|
Breakfasts and optional dinners are served in the dining room,
where complimentary tea and coffee is available.
|
|
 Being the Old Bakery, we pride ourselves on our
homemade wholegrain breads baked according to ancient recipes,
which we serve with all meals.
Our dinners tend to be vegetarian, and we are idealistic
especially when it comes to the use of premium ingredients.
Dinner price includes two glasses of wine or beer.
Our optional, cooked breakfast is available every day except Saturdays,
and consists of eggs, baked beans, grilled tomato, mushrooms, hash browns,
and any of the other items found on the regular breakfast buffet.
Please note that we serve no bacon or sausages.
We serve dinner at 7pm, and breakfast from 8am until 10am

Zelman and Susanne have arrived in New Zealand in 2006,
bringing their cats Aerial and Jessie with them from England.
Filou is a recent, local addition to the team.
The cats are responsible for conducting control naps
on all upholstered surfaces, but not usually including the guest rooms.
All team members save for the cats are also fluent in German,
and a little less fluent in French, Swedish, and Spanish.

- The Old Bakery is a non-smoking establishment.
- You are, however welcome to smoke on the two decks, and if you have a good cigar or two, Zelman might just join you.
- While we generally welcome children travellers of all ages, we are unable to provide additional beds for guest rooms for space- and safety reasons.
- We also currently have no ways to accommodate any dogs of our travelers in the house. This has been decided by our panel of cats.
- Dinners and cooked breakfasts are available on request.
- Continental Breakfast is included in the room charge.

Single occupancy of a room and continental breakfast incur a charge of NZ$85
Double occupancy NZ$105.
We charge NZ$15 for cooked breakfast, dinners are NZ$20 per person including two glasses of non-alcoholic beverages, wine, or beer.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, cash or travellers’ cheques.
Please note that there are no banking facilities in Portobello.
